Lake Hopatcong, NJ, November 01, 2015 --(PR.com)-- The Lake Hopatcong Foundation and the Lake Hopatcong Historical Museum are partnering together and seeking the support of the community to help put food on area tables this holiday season. In the spirit of Make a Difference Day (October 24) and Giving Tuesday (December 2), the non-profit organizations will be collecting non-perishable, sealed and unexpired food for four of the food panties in the area: West Side Methodist Church in Hopatcong, St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Mt. Arlington, Our Lady Star of the Sea in Lake Hopatcong and the Hurdtown Methodist Church in Lake Hopatcong.

“The Foundation seeks to serve our local community on many levels. This is just one of the small gestures we can make around the giving season, in order to give back to those in need,” said Lauren Rossi, Lake Hopatcong Foundation Development Director. “We are happy to help and thrilled to partner with the Lake Hopatcong Historical Museum in order to make a full weekend out of this opportunity.”

To kick off the food drive, there will be three opportunities to drop off items. On November 6, 2015, The Lake Hopatcong Foundation will host a “LHF Night Out” at the Windlass, 45 Nolan’s Point Park Road, Lake Hopatcong. Food items can be dropped off at the information table between 5pm-9pm. The food pantries have indicated that they need the following items: Instant Mashed Potatoes, Gravy, Cranberry Sauce, Stuffing, Applesauce, Canned Fruits, Canned Vegetables, Beef Stew, Pasta Meals, Peanut Butter, Jelly, Tuna, Mayonnaise, Macaroni and Cheese, Spaghetti Sauce, Cereal (hot and cold), Cake Mixes, Jello and Cookies. For more information on the “LHF Night Out” go to http://www.lakehopatcongfoundation.org/events/lhf-restaurant-nights. Additionally, the Lake Hopatcong Historical Museum will be continuing the food drive at its November 7th program at 7pm “Lake Hopatcong Home Movie Night” at The Palace Theatre, 7 Ledgewood Avenue, Netcong, NJ. Food donations will also be accepted from noon to 4pm on Sunday November 8th at the museum which is located at Hopatcong State Park in Landing.

“It is great to team together for such a worthwhile cause where all the food collected will help our neighbors in the community,” said Marty Kane, president of the Lake Hopatcong Historical Museum.
