David Parikh Named Melvin Jones Fellow

Stanton Lion David Parikh has received the prestigious Melvin Jones Award.

Stanton, CA, December 18, 2007 --(PR.com)-- David Parikh has been named a Melvin Jones Fellow by Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) in recognition of his commitment to serving the world community. Named for the founder of Lions Clubs International, Melvin Jones, the fellowship is the foundation’s highest honor. It is a recognition of commitment to humanitarian service.

Parikh is a former president, vice-president and current board member of the Stanton Lions Club. He also designed the club’s website, worked on public relations, served on the building committee, sight and hearing committee, and investment committee.

A finely crafted plaque and lapel pin were presented to him at the Stanton Club’s Holiday Party. Mr. Parikh plans on prominently displaying the Melvin Jones Award Plaque in his office. Mr. Parikh stated that he “was truly honored to receive the award and he is grateful that there are so many people dedicated to helping our community. Stanton has improved a lot in the last few years. The city has become more business friendly; and more affluent families seem to be moving in. Residents and business owners have more pride in their city. For instance, today graffiti and trash are quickly cleaned up. But there are still a lot of challenges. The Stanton Lions and our community partners will continue to help the needy in Stanton.”

As a Melvin Jones Fellow, Mr. Parikh becomes a part of the growing network of individuals who are committed to improving the quality of life for people locally and in communities around the world.

Lions Clubs International is the world’s largest service club organization with nearly 1.3 million members. As the charitable arm of the association, LCIF makes grants for vital community and global projects that meet a wide range of humanitarian needs. The LCIF SightFirst program unites approximately 45,000 Lions clubs in 200 countries and geographical areas in a worldwide endeavor to significantly reduce preventable blindness.
