Local Businessman Receives Award for Outstanding Performance

Luke Godwin, a Columbia, South Carolina car dealer is recognized as the Quality Dealer of the Year by the Carolinas Independent Automobile Dealers Association. He was selected from more than 1200 dealers. He will represent the association and compete for the National Quality Dealer later this year in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Columbia, SC, February 04, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Luke Godwin, President of Godwin Motors, Inc., of Columbia, was awarded the coveted Quality Dealer of the Year for the Carolinas Independent Automobile Dealers Association (CIADA) during its annual convention held at Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The award is given each year to a dealer recognized by his peers for outstanding performance, service to the industry and the community.

“Every year the CIADA wants to recognize the very best of the best. This year is no different. The CIADA Quality Dealer of The Year award is very well deserved,” said John Brown, Executive Director of CIADA.

Godwin is a third generation car dealer. He is a graduate of the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology. After graduation, he decided to return to the family business instead of pursuing other potential career options. The car business is in his blood. He began working around cars and the dealership at a young age. By age 15, he was working at Rawls Auto Auction in Chapin and that very year became its youngest active buyer.

At Godwin Motors, Luke oversees the day-to-day operations, supervises a staff of 12 employees, actively buys inventory, and engages with customers. His sales team routinely sells in excess of 350 cars per year.

Godwin serves on a number of state and national industry boards. He is past president and current chairman of the CIADA Executive Committee. He is a current member of the National Independent Automobile Dealers Association Services Board. Godwin currently serves on Governor Nicki Haley’s Advisory Council for Consumer Affairs.

Godwin Motors has a long history of serving the people of Columbia during its 30 years in business. In addition to their continued support of civic and local service organizations, they are always responsive to area needs. Recently, during the floods that devastated the greater Columbia area, Godwin Motors responded by supplying water to impacted customers and surrounding businesses. Additionally, Godwin Motors made a direct contribution of $3,000 to the American Red Cross’ efforts.

An avid runner, Luke has completed in 13 marathon races and one Iron Man competition. He and his wife, Alexa, have a daughter, Hadley, and they live in the Shandon area of Columbia.
