Lifetime VIP Member, Marion Rifkind, Has Been Selected as Professional of the Year 2016 by America’s Registry of Outstanding Professionals

Marion Rifkind of Houston, Texas has been selected as Professional of the Year 2016 by America’s Registry of Outstanding Professionals for her outstanding contributions and achievement in the field of Language Interpretation Services.

Farmingdale, NY, March 30, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Marion Rifkind was born in Wolverhampton, England. She earned her B.A. in Foreign Languages and Literature at the University of Manchester. She is currently the Owner and President of Universe Technical Translation Inc. where she has been working for the past 34 years. This is a translation service company that provides technical, legal and commercial translation and interpretation in more than 60 languages. Their services include translations of technical manuals, video voice-overs and offer simultaneous translations for conferences. They are headquartered in Houston, Texas and have an office in Baku, Azerbaijan, a sales office in London, an office in Moscow and have representation on Sakhalin Island, Russia. Ms. Rifkind was invited to come from London to handle a special project. This involved setting up translation services for a contract where Dresser Industries (US) was to supply turbines to the Soviets. Ms. Rifkind is responsible for overall company operations, major accounts, language classes, cross-cultural training, public relations, customer relations and international operations. She has provided interpretation services for President Putin of Russia, President Bush, President Nazarbayev of Kazakhstan, President Niyazov of Turkmenistan and President Zemin Jiang of China. Mr. Hugo Chavez (Former President of Venezuela); Mr. Victor Chernomyrdin, (Former Prime Minister of Russia); Mr. Apas Dzhumagulov (Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan): President Heydar Aliyev of Azerbaijan and the Presidents of Tatarstan and Kazakhstan, Mr. Andrey Konoplyanik and an Azeri delegation which included Mr. Vahid Kazymamed Akhmedov, the First Deputy Prime Minister; President of Socar. In 1984, Ms. Rifkind established the Soviet American Chamber of Commerce in Houston which subsequently became the CIS American Chamber of Commerce. The goal was to create an environment for US and Soviet business people to come together to exchange ideas and foster connections among business people from both countries. It also created a place to network with others who were trying to accomplish similar goals. She has been honored in 2010 as the 18th Woman-Owned Fastest Growing Business in Houston and in 2011, received the Top 100 Diversity Award for Privately Held Business in Texas. She was also the First Woman Cruise Director onboard a passenger cruise ship in1975. She is a member of the American Translators Association/the Russian American Chamber of Commerce/the Greater Houston Partnership, the Houston Interpreters and Translators Association and the American Translators’ Association. Her leisure time is spent enjoying her four children, playing tennis, biking, Pilates, dancing, cooking and learning new languages. In December 2014, she made a speech and presentation to the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh, Scotland.
