wearsolutions at the 17th National Congress of AESOP (The Portuguese Association of Surgical Nurses)

Porto, Portugal, April 06, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Wearsolutions was present at the 17th National Congress of AESOP (Associação dos Enfermeiros de Sala de Operações Portugueses, ie. The Portuguese Association of Surgical Nurses) that took place between March 10 and 12 of 2016, at the “Centro Cultural Olga Cadaval” localized at the beautiful village of Sintra, Portugal.

This was a unique opportunity to advertise the textile options offered by wearsolutions for hospital environments, namely reusable technical textiles for surgical rooms, as well as an integrated solution for the management and traceability of hospital textiles with exclusive characteristics based on the RFID-UFH technology.

This occasion was very useful to communicate with the health professionals that are every day “on the field”, and also to understand how wearsolutions can go further to the encounter of the professionals’ needs, allowing them to work in a safer, more comfortable and more ecological way.

The introduction of innovative and sustainable solutions is part of the wearsolutions principle that uses high performance technical fabrics on the manufacture of surgical gowns, operating room suits and surgical fields. These fabrics / products present several advantages such as: maximum security and protection, maximum comfort and high durability.

Wearsolutions follows the concept “Green Healthcare”, a trend vastly implemented in developed countries with strong environmental and ecological consciousness.

A quick and simple exercise can easily demonstrate the advantages of the adoption of reusable surgical gowns relatively to the use of disposable ones. Focus on the example of a hospital with ca. 5,000 health professionals that performs approximately 34,000 surgeries per year. Knowing that, on average, 4 disposable gowns are used per surgery, and that each disposable gown weighs around 170 gr., one can rapidly reach the conclusion that annually, a total of 23 tons of residues are generated. These residues must then be processed and eliminated, a process that increases not only the costs for the health institution but also its ecological footprint. It must be emphasized that this figure does not include the residues resulting from the use of surgical fields and operating room suits.

The implementation of wearsolutions’ reusable products leads to a dramatic reduction of residue levels, consequently to a decrease of the costs associated with their processing, and even more importantly, leads to a diminished environmental impact.

The wearsolutions surgical gowns, operating room suits and surgical fields are medical devices that belong to a new generation of reusable technical fabrics for surgical environments. These devices are tested, manufactured and certified according to the European standard EN 13795.

In a modern society that each day is more preoccupied with the future of the planet, the logical way is to head for the adoption of “green” and sustainable solutions. The keywords are to reduce, reuse, recover and recycle. Moving towards a circular economy. Moving towards a greener world.

Think Green. Think wearsolutions.
