Eta Nu Sigma Brooklyn & Queens Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Incorporated in Partnership with the Bedford YMCA Presents Swim1922 /Water Palooza

Brooklyn, NY, June 08, 2016 --(PR.com)-- The foundation’s goal is to strengthen the sport from ordinary to gold medals. Whether equipping children with learn-to-swim skills, or providing financial support to heroes on the U.S. National Team, like Olympic swimmer Maritza Correia MCclendon, the USA Swimming Foundation is dedicated to supporting the pursuit of excellence in the sport and aims to provide the wonderful experience of swimming to kids at all levels across the country.

USA Swim campaign is a national recruiting effort aimed at arming parents with the information and resources they need to get their children involved in the sport for its health and safety benefits. Currently Maritza Correia McClendon is the Senior Marketing Manager for Nike Swim where she travels throughout the country attending elite level national meets and works with coaches and swimmers. McClendon is also the ambassador for USA Swimming’s Swim 1922 program, a partnership with Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority with the goal to lower drowning rates within the African-American community.

She has made US history on the pool deck in Athens in 2004. Diagnosed with scoliosis at the age of 6 years old, swimming was recommended by her doctor which changed her life.

The sophisticated ladies of Eta Nu Sigma Brooklyn and Queens Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Incorporated, will host swim 1922 at the Bedford YMCA, Brooklyn NY on June 25th from 2:30-6:30PM. Beginners swimming clinics will be held for youths and adults as the ladies of Eta Nu Sigma along with the YMCA promote swimming with lessons on water safety along with free giveaways.
