Peter Max Returns to Jersey Shore for Independence Day Weekend Celebration
Stone Harbor, NJ, June 15, 2016 --(PR.com)-- The legendary pop artist celebrates two of his favorite passions with exhibit at Ocean Galleries: patriotism and the beautiful New Jersey shore

When Peter Max returns to Ocean Galleries (9618 Third Avenue, Stone Harbor/609.368.7777) for his Fourth of July weekend exhibit, he celebrates two of his favorite passions: patriotism and the beautiful New Jersey shore.

“Peter Max Celebrates America the Beautiful” opens Friday, July 1 and runs through Monday, July 4, 2016 from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM daily, with all artwork on display available for acquisition. Guests can meet the iconic Peter Max in the gallery when he signs purchased artwork at two receptions: 7:00 PM until 10:00 PM on Saturday, July 2 and 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM on Sunday, July 3.

Peter Max, whose bold colors and uplifting images are instantly recognizable and admired worldwide, has had a love affair with America since he arrived in the country as a young boy from China. Beginning with the U.S. Bicentennial celebration in 1976, Peter Max has created unique paintings of the Statute of Liberty each Fourth of July to celebrate the patriotic symbol of the freedom and independence that Americans enjoy. Over the years, he has celebrated Independence Day with world leaders ranging from The King of Sweden, President Ford, and incoming President Jimmy Carter in 1976; to President Ronald Reagan and Nancy Reagan in 1981; and President Bill Clinton in 2000.

Max’s passion for America and the Fourth of July holiday has continued and grown over the years. Peter has celebrated the holiday in one of his favorite places for more than a decade – the New Jersey seaside community of Stone Harbor. The quintessential beach town has a charm and mystique that has lured generations of visitors for decades who enjoy the white sandy beaches, one-of-kind shopping, and top rated eateries. For Peter, it has been an opportunity to connect with nature, whether he is walking on the beach, admiring the wildlife at The Wetlands Institute, or simply soaking in the fresh, salty air and magnificent ocean views.

“Visiting Stone Harbor is always very therapeutic and inspirational for me,” Max explains. “Over the years, I have painted many beach and nature scenes inspired by my visits to Ocean Galleries and the wonderful seaside resort. And, of course, I love connecting with my long time and new fans and collectors at the gallery.”

Peter’s newest collection of artwork on display at Ocean Galleries will include numerous paintings created specifically for the Stone Harbor, NJ event, including several images of the local beaches, the seaside resort, and elements of nature. The collection also includes Peter’s latest patriotic collection of images, such as “Flags & Hearts,” “Liberty Head,” and “Flag with Heart.”

“We have been fortunate to host a wide array of famous artists over the years, but no one can compare to the one-and-only Peter Max,” gallery owner Kim Miller explains. “He has an energy and passion that bring a room to life. Combined with the rock ‘n roll music playing and unbridled enthusiasm of his fans, it is always an electric event!”
