Freiburg Architekt Wolfgang Frey at the German-Chinese Forum with Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel and Minister President Li Keqiang

During German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s ninth visit to China in mid-June 2016, she met with Minister President Li Keqiang to deepen German-Chinese economic, cultural and political relations. Along with Merkel and Keqiang, Wolfgang Frey, owner of Frey Architekten, was in attendance at the German-Chinese Forum in Beijing.

Freiburg, Germany, June 21, 2016 --(PR.com)-- During the panel discussions led by Angela Merkel and Li Keqiang at the fourth German-Chinese Intergovernmental Consultations, both governments agreed to even more cooperation based on the “Framework for Action for German-Chinese Cooperation: Collective Innovation” from October 2014.

Wolfgang Frey, along with his Chinese Partners Sino-German United Group Co. Ltd. (United Group) and Qingdao Jianan Group Co. Ltd (Jianan Group) participated in the German-Chinese Forum for economic and technological cooperation on June 13, 2016. This forum, along with Frey’s participation, marks an important step in strengthening German-Chinese relations.

Wolfgang Frey has been active in China since 2010. Numerous projects have been developed including a retail center in Taiyuan with about 216,535 square feet, a logistics center with about 3.05 million square feet and a residential district concept in Shanxi Jinzhong with about 328,000 square feet in size.

Because Frey connects innovation with sustainability using local resources, he has been commissioned with the planning for the restructuring of the city of Kunshan to reduce the smog there. Frey Architekten is currently developing the one-mile long waterfront in cooperation with “EC-Link” in Foshan.

Together with the Frey Group under Wolfgang Frey’s direction, the United Group (Administrative Committee for the Sino-German Ecopark with a starting capital of 900 million RMB) and the Jianan Group (experienced general contractor for urban construction and infrastructure with a starting capital of 300 million RMB) are responsible for the development of the Sino-German Ecopark in Qingdao, which encompasses about 7 square miles. The Sino-German Ecopark is a pilot project for sustainable cooperation between the Federal Republic of Germany and the People’s Republic of China, which was signed by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology and the Chinese Ministry of Trade in the presence of Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel and then Chinese Premiere Minister Wen Jiabao.

Sustainability has become a main theme in future urban development projects, thanks in large part to the decree Directive About How to Further Strengthen Urban Planning and Development Management by the Central Committee for the Communist Party in China and the State Council of the People’s Republic of China. The decree reflects the philosophy of sustainability that Wolfgang Frey and his Chinese partners represent. The cooperative partners are in agreement about the important introduction to Smart-City planning, Eco-City planning, Low-Impact Development, Low-Energy Houses, Pre-Fab Housing, and the development of sustainable construction materials.
