KIB Promotes Cleaner Public Spaces at South Irving Library

Irving, TX, September 03, 2016 --(PR.com)-- In partnership with the Library and the Parks Department, Keep Irving Beautiful (KIB) staff visited the South Irving Library on Wednesday, August 31, where they set up an information table and spoke to library patrons about KIB programs. They were there to promote clean public spaces, and provided car litter bags and blue recycling bags to those who came by the table. They also gave away seed packets, reusable shopping bags, pens and pencils, as well as children’s items like coloring books and stickers. Several KIB brochures were available for visitors to take, and staff also encouraged them to sign up for the upcoming community cleanup, the 24th annual Trash Bash, on September 24.

“We were inspired to do this after being contacted by a resident concerned about litter,” said KIB Board Member Rachel Moon. “Providing the car litter bags helps to keep litter from blowing out of cars when doors are opened and gives drivers a convenient way to collect food wrappers or other waste paper and easily dispose of it. We like to take that a bit further with blue bags to encourage recycling and the reusable shopping bags to take with them to the grocery store, and decrease the amount of plastic bags that often become a litter problem.”
