Discovery of Christian Meditation Leads Teen with Big Problems to Renewed Faith

A former delinquent’s discovery of meditation puts him on a path to self-discovery and the purpose of his life in this new book released by Dog Ear Publishing.

Largo, FL, September 22, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Awaiting transport to the Camp Lejeune Regional Brig of the U.S. Marine Corps might have struck fear into the heart of most, but not William Ingram. Instead, he was right where he wanted to be so he could begin a new chapter of his life and make up for his very shaky beginning. He candidly tells his story of self-discovery and faith in a new book released by Dog Ear Publishing.

At 17 years old, Ingram deserted the US Marine Corps in 1967 as an act of self-destructive rebellion and embarked on a cross-country journey to what would eventually take him to a skid-row rescue mission in Los Angeles where he had no choice but to confront his demons. The black teenager began to turn to the God he had reluctantly accepted as an adolescent, eventually shedding the secret life of lies that had encircled him. He faces difficult challenges, including asking forgiveness from his grandmother and mother, who were unaware of his whereabouts for three years.

In his lowest moment as a repentant fugitive, Ingram hears a radio broadcast by Los Angeles preacher Roy Masters, from the Foundation of Human Understanding. Ingram begins practicing a prayer-based meditation practiced by early Christians, and that practice leads him to real change in his life. In “Finding Heaven In the Dark,” Ingram details the choices – good and bad – that shaped his early life and how he began a new journey of self-discovery, including practicing the meditation prayer of stillness also called “Be Still and Know…” Psalm 26:10. Spiritual seekers, the faithful and skeptics will find identification and inspiration in Ingram’s journey to the light from the Heaven within everyone.

William Ingram is a retired entrepreneur and successful small business owner. He moved to Florida after living in Connecticut and Rhode Island for 40 years. He met his wife, Susan, when both had been widowed and became neighbors. They enjoy traveling in their motorhome.
