Xylem Watermark Partners with KIB for Cleanup Project on Campion Trails

Irving, TX, October 23, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Xylem is a is a water technology company dedicated to helping to solve water challenges around the world. On Thursday, October 20, a group of forty-two Xylem employee volunteers tackled a water-related issue very close to home:
a cleanup at Bird’s Fort Trail Park, with the goal of keeping litter out of the Elm Fork of the Trinity River, which forms the eastern border of the park, part of Irving’s Campion Trails system. They partnered with Keep Irving Beautiful (KIB) and the City of Irving Parks Department for the project, with KIB supplying the trash and recycle bags, litter pickers, gloves and vests, and the Parks Department reserving the area and providing a truck for the collection of materials. The Xylem employee volunteers were joined by a North Lake Service Learning student in giving 107 total hours of service and collecting 329.5 pounds of litter and 138.2 pounds of recyclables.

“Xylem Watermark” is the philanthropic side of the company, and they partner with non-profits throughout the world to raise awareness, educate and provide technology and support to provide clean water for those in need. This project was part of their inaugural Global Month of Service in October 2016, to mark the company’s fifth anniversary.

“This was the first time we have partnered with Xylem Watermark,” said KIB Board Member Karen Harmon. “Their employee volunteers came ready to work, and did an outstanding job today. We were honored to be part of their month of service, and hope to partner with them in the future.”
