ASDA Executive Director Named Honorary Fellow in American College of Dentists

Chicago, IL, November 29, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Nancy Honeycutt, CAE, executive director of the American Student Dental Association, received honorary fellowship in the American College of Dentists at the group’s annual convocation on Oct. 20, 2016. Honorary Fellowship in the ACD is bestowed on individuals who do not hold a dental degree but have significantly advanced the profession of oral health and have shown exceptional leadership in areas such as education, public health, administration, public service or related fields of health care. This is the highest honor the College awards to non-dentists.

Honeycutt joined ASDA as executive director in 2003, responsible for the association’s strategic plan, objectives, policies and programs as specified by the House of Delegates and Board of Trustees. Over the years, she has mentored hundreds of aspiring dentists and prepared them to be leaders in their practices and communities. Nominated by five past national leaders of ASDA and three ADA trustees, Honeycutt was recognized for her passion and mentorship in preparing dental students to enter the profession and for making a positive and indelible mark on the lives and careers of dental school graduates in the past 13 years.

“ASDA means so much to me, personally and professionally, and I’ve come to greatly admire all that dentistry does,” said Honeycutt. “Being nominated by these young professionals I’m so proud of and recognized by this profession I care deeply about makes this an experience I’ll never forget.”

During her tenure as executive director of ASDA, Honeycutt has overseen 52% membership growth and a budget increase of 181%. She created ASDA’s National Leadership Conference to offer a curriculum focused on developing dental student leadership skills outside the classroom. She also established ASDA’s award-winning Wellness Initiative to educate dental students on the need for a sustained focus on overall wellness and to provide resources to students who may require assistance.

Honeycutt has 35 years of experience in association management, with extensive background in strategic planning, team building, program development, and membership recruitment and retention. She holds the Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation from the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and is the winner of the 2012 Inspiring Leader of the Year Award from the Association Forum of Chicago.
