#ServingHopeLV Founder Wins Entrepreneur Pitch Contest for His Concept for Non-Profit Restaurant

#ServingHopeLV, founder Siloh Moses wins "Get Started" Entrepreneur pitch contest put on by Inc. Magazine, Cox Media, and Vegas Inc Magazine for his idea of a non-profit restaurant, Fork & Spoon LV.

Las Vegas, NV, December 01, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Siloh Moses has a vision: a non-profit restaurant that would feed the homeless in the Las Vegas community through a supper club that will serve the public. Moses is no stranger to making a vision into a reality, as #ServingHopeLV—which serves over 400 of Las Vegas's homeless, unemployed, and underemployed on Monday nights—started with a pot of spaghetti from his own kitchen. Within a year, #ServingHopeLV attracted a volunteer corps 60-strong every Monday and helped get over 100 people off the streets and into permanent housing.

At the third annual "Get Started" entrepreneur pitch contest put on by Inc. magazine, Vegas Inc. magazine, and Cox Media, Moses pitched the idea of a non-profit restaurant that would give back to the Las Vegas homeless community. The idea behind Fork & Spoon LV is to combine the experience of a traditional supper club with a world-class menu, for a good cause. For every plate purchased, Fork & Spoon LV gives one plate to the homeless community, which it has been doing through pop-up events featuring menus from some of Las Vegas's most celebrated up-and-coming chefs.

Siloh Moses, the founder of Fork & Spoon LV, says, "Historically, supper clubs were small, underground social clubs. Guests were only given the next location after they had purchased a ticket." He explains, "It is this same tradition that we bring to Fork & Spoon LV. Invited guests experience a one-night-only event of hand-crafted menus from some of the most talented chefs in Las Vegas." Moses adds, "And for every plate that is purchased, we give a plate away to someone who can't afford one. Plate-for-plate. Locally."

The purpose of the "Get Started" contest is not only to award a prize, but also to give local entrepreneurs the opportunity to interface with industry leaders and experts and provide them a unique local platform for them to share their story. Contestants were given two-and-a-half minutes to convincingly pitch a live studio audience that their concept was one that could be successfully taken into the real world.

Judges used criteria ranging from entrepreneurs' game plan to take their concept into the real world, community impact, and what it would take to get the idea off the ground. The contest's panelists included: Inc.com executive editor Laura Lorber, Shark Tank winner and Las Vegas local Shaan Patel, video producer and corporate humorist Tim Washer, and owner of Work in Progress Allen Vance.

Fork & Spoon LV

Fork & Spoon LV is a private, invite-only, pop-up supper club that rotates from location to location every month, bringing some of the top chefs and talent in the Vegas Valley with them. The events are complimentary to attend. At the end of the meal, guests are asked to donate whatever they value the food and their overall experience at. Taking it a step further, for every meal that is "valued," Fork & Spoon LV gives a meal away to someone who can't afford one. Locally. One for one.
