Water Expert Issues Notice Over Concerns of Arsenic in Kentucky Water Supply

Indianapolis, IN, January 05, 2017 --(PR.com)-- Chris Myers, an authority on drinking water testing and founder of Environmental Laboratories Inc. (ELI) issued a notice of his concerns about Arsenic contamination in drinking water supplies. He has a specific concern regarding the potential contamination of area water supplies, from the Arsenic levels being found on the property that was once occupied by the Southern Wood Treatment Company. He also announced, that Safe Home® Drinking Water Test Kits (from ELI’s - EnviroTestKits® Division) would be offering discounted testing, to the people of affected communities.

“Workers for the Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet have been testing soil samples on the properties most likely affected by the contamination and have found a wide range of Arsenic levels to be present,” said Myers. “State officials have indicated that immediate action is required. Therefore, we are extending a 20% discount on one of our Special Event Kits for testing Arsenic in drinking water. Anyone in the continental US can order the Arsenic test kit with the discount, for a limited time. However, the reason for this specific kit to be made available in the first place, was to support the homeowners in eastern Kentucky.”

According to the CDC in 2005, chronic Arsenic ingestion can lead to liver disease, developmental and reproductive effects, and cancer. Arsenic in drinking water has been evaluated as carcinogenic to humans on the basis of “sufficient evidence for an increased risk for cancer.”

“Surface water and ground water supplies can both be affected,” adds Myers. “Heavy rains are both a friend and a foe, when they come into an area that suffers from this type of above-ground contamination.”

Anyone who uses City Water or Well Water, should test their water when they feel their water supply is potentially threatened. Those who are on Well Water should consider testing once during the wet season and once during the dry season, at the very least.
