Shallow Water Workshop Wows Local Artists

During a recent workshop, artist Mark Johnson demonstrated his unique techniques of capturing the shallow waters of the Florida Keys.

Hobe Sound, FL, February 18, 2017 --(PR.com)-- Mark Johnson is well known in the community for his beautiful acrylic images of the shallow waters of the Florida Keys. During a recent, two-day workshop at the Hobe Sound Fine Arts League, Mark taught other local artists his techniques.

Using several shades of green and blue, as well as some purple to reflect the deep colors of sea grass, the artists created beautiful canvas landscapes. "Although I usually paint with oils, Mark's class opened my interest in acrylics," said Ed Douglas, local artist and League member. "The paints dry faster, but the ability to show translucency with acrylics makes the image of the shallow water very inviting."

The Hobe Sound Fine Arts League is the only art league in the Treasure Coast area with Gallery and studio space. Located in the Winn Dixie shopping center at the intersection of US1 and Bridge Road, the League provides workshops for the community each month between November and April, as well as classes in oils and watercolors each week throughout the year. All classes and workshops are open to the community.
