Knights of Columbus Donate Funds from Annual Tootsie Roll Drive to NorthPointe Resources

Zion, IL, March 11, 2017 --(PR.com)-- In January, Our Lady of Humility Knights of Columbus Council donated the proceeds from their annual Tootsie Roll Drive to NorthPointe Resources. Their generous donation of $1,500 was presented by Grand Knight, Joe McGrath, at a church gathering hosted by the Knights of Columbus #13598 and was accepted by NorthPointe Resources’ CEO, Dina Donohue-Chase.

The Tootsie Roll Drive was conducted over the span of three days last September at the Zion Piggly Wiggly store. NorthPointe volunteers joined the Knights of Columbus’ members to pass out Tootsie Rolls and bring awareness to the community about NorthPointe and their dedication to their mission of empowering individuals with disabilities and/or mental illness to achieve their dreams. For over twenty years NorthPointe has been fortunate to have been the designated recipient of the fundraiser.

Since 1970, The Tootsie Roll Drive has been part of an international “Campaign for People with Intellectual Disabilities.” Knights of Columbus members in the US, Canada, and British Colombia participate in The Tootsie Roll Drive to raise funds and help support organizations similar to NorthPointe Resources. Members of Knights of Columbus embrace this campaign each year as an opportunity to make a direct impact on the quality of life of people with disabilities, especially within each council’s local community.

The Knights of Columbus are an international religious group with over 1.9 million members that are committed to making their communities a better place to live for everyone. By donating their time and talent, the 15,342 councils around the world are involved within their communities through charitable events and other service duties that provide support for worthwhile local organizations.

Both the Our Lady of Humility Knights of Columbus Council and NorthPointe Resources would like to thank the local businesses and contributors for their continued generous support of the annual fundraiser.

Established in 1953, NorthPointe Resources is a premier provider of a full range of award-winning programs for people with disabilities and/or mental illness living in northern Illinois, supporting approximately 500 people annually. To learn more please visit www.northpointeresources.org.
