April 4 – Nathalie Gosset Invited Keynote Speaker at the Hoops and Hurdles of Equal Pay, a CLU and AAUW Event

Thousand Oaks, CA, March 13, 2017 --(PR.com)-- No country has yet achieved a work environment where men and women earn the same income when hired in similar job positions. The United States lag behind nineteen countries in equal pay. Women earn 80 cents on average for every dollar paid to men in the US, according the statistics of the American Association of University Women (AAUW).

On April 4, 5:30 pm to 7:15 pm, The California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks will host the event, Hoops and Hurdles of Equal Pay, an initiative co-jointly organized by the CLU-Career Services and the AAUW branch of Thousand Oaks.

Nathalie Gosset, BSEE, MS, MBA, Chair of the Institute of Electronics Engineers, Buenaventura Section, will be the keynote speaker and will share some insights into the experience of women working in Science Technology Engineering and Math.

The event will include panel discussions on salary negotiations, gender investing gap, and maternity leave. Attendees will participate in table discussions on the topics of Pay Equity, Cultural Stereotypes, Unconscious Biases, Work Life Balance, Pay Gap in the STEM Field, and How Men Can Help. A mock salary negotiation will be demonstrated.

Ms. Gosset is one of the 12 percent of women engineers in the United States. She has actively encouraged young women to consider technical jobs. Engineering will most likely be among the first group of professions to achieve equal pay.

Pizza will be served. The free event is for CLU students, CLU alumni, AAUW members, IEEE members, and the general public of the community. The event is at the Lundring Events Center at the California Lutheran University.
