Mexican-American Southern Drama “Are You From Dixie?” Wraps

The Mexican-American Southern Feature Film "Are You From Dixie?" has wrapped production in Louisiana. The story depicts the clash of Latino and Deep South cultures in an era of political and racial tension in the United States.

Los Angeles, CA, June 24, 2017 --(PR.com)-- Production of the Mexican-American Southern drama “Are You From Dixie?” produced by Together Magic Films, has wrapped following eight days of filming in Mandeville, Louisiana.

Starring Hispanic actors Drake Malone and Armand Petri, “Are You From Dixie?” depicts Latinx life in the modern-day Deep South in an era of racial and political tension in the United States.

The official synopsis reads: “The life of two Mexican-American brothers born in the modern-day Deep South takes a dramatic turn after they participate in a controversial event that tests their relationships, and hurts the sensitivities of their mostly-white Louisiana community.”

The triggering event of the film is the removal of a fictional Confederate statue in a small Louisiana town. The story is inspired by current events, including the recent dismantling of Civil War monuments in New Orleans.

Art Arutyunyan directed from a script written by Armand Petri. Holly Bonney, Mitch Craft, Lisha Wheeler also star.

Together Magic Films, run by Arutyunyan and Petri, will handle sales and distribution aiming for an early 2018 limited-theatrical run and VOD release.
