Keep Irving Beautiful Honored by STAR North Texas - Receives Excellence in Environmental Public Education and Outreach

Irving, TX, August 26, 2017 --(PR.com)-- Keep Irving Beautiful (KIB) has been recognized by the State of Texas Alliance for Recycling (STAR) North Texas with the 1st Place 2017 “Excellence in Environmental Public Education and Outreach Program” award. KIB staff attended the annual Environmental Leadership Awards luncheon at the Embassy Suites in Grapevine on August 23 to accept the honor. They were joined by winners in ten other categories, representing individuals, communities, and businesses for developing or maintaining programs involving recycling or other sustainability efforts in North Texas.

KIB received this award for the application they submitted detailing their activities from the previous year. Among the programs and initiatives cited by the judging committee were KIB’s Green Events and Adopt-a-Spot programs, their large and small-scale cleanups throughout the year, and educational efforts at schools and special events, all of which encourage recycling. KIB is now eligible to progress to the state level STAR Environmental Leadership Awards which will be presented at the Texas Recycling Summit in October.

“We are very honored to have received this award,” said KIB Board Member Kelly Horn. “Thanks to the efforts of our volunteers, sponsors and partners, KIB is able to do a variety of activities which benefit the community in our focus areas of litter prevention, beautification and recycling. We appreciate the recognition from STAR North Texas, and look forward to competing at the state level.”
