The International Assoc. of Who’s Who Nominates Kathleen Urban as Professional of the Year

Kathleen Urban of Westland, Michigan is recognized by the International Assoc. of Who’s Who for exemplary achievements in the field of Rehabilitation.

New York, NY, August 27, 2017 --(PR.com)-- Kathleen Urban is a certified rehabilitation registered nurse (CRRN) and certified case manager (CCM) based in Garden City, Michigan. For nearly four decades, Ms. Urban has dedicated herself to her career, and ultimately her passion for serving as a healthcare provider and educator.

Ms. Urban graduated “with honors” with a nursing diploma from the Henry Ford Hospital School of Nursing, then went on to obtain a B.S.N from Madonna University. She pursued her graduate studies at Central Michigan University and in addition to holding a degree from Belford University.

Currently, Ms. Urban is the Director of Rehab Services at Garden City Hospital, member of Prime Healthcare, which focuses on delivering the best possible care for those seeking inpatient and outpatient rehab therapy, as well as acute inpatient rehabilitation services. Her column, “Kathleen’s Corner” in the hospital’s monthly publication, Nursing Infusion, focuses on patient safety and mobility issues. In her role, Ms. Urban’s expertise in general rehabilitation, mobility progression, team building, fall prevention, patient safety, stroke prevention, and restraint reduction makes her an indispensable member of hospital leadership.

Driven by her love for rehabilitation, Ms. Urban has become a key advocate in her field, speaking at numerous industry conventions and conferences and publishing work in the second edition of “Gerontological Nursing: Competencies for Care.” She has also acted as treasurer of the Michigan Association of Medical Program Rehabilitation Administrators (MAMPRA) and secretary of the Quality Association Nursing Network (QANN), and served on the national and local boards of the Association of Rehabilitation Nurses (ARN), including the Michigan chapter.

Her commitment to her community has not gone unnoticed. Ms. Urban has received awards for the work she does every day to innovate rehabilitation, including the prestigious ARN National Nurse Manager Role Awards and the Runner-up Nightingale Award in Administration.

Ms. Urban finds time to balance her passion for her work with other interests and activities, from spending time with her family, to volunteering, to travelling the world.
