College Students Volunteer at RCC Boccia Tournament

Oswestry, United Kingdom, October 04, 2017 --(PR.com)-- North Shropshire College (NSC) students have had a busy week volunteering at the Shropshire RCC Boccia Tournament. The tournament was held at Oswestry Leisure Centre on the 26th September 2017 and proved to be a very popular and huge success. Several BTEC Sport students helped out at the event, welcoming teams from Whitchurch, Baschurch, Ruyton, Oswestry and the Derwen College to the event. In addition to this, the students used their training session from the previous week, also held at the Leisure Centre, to assist them to successfully referee the matches that took place on the day. The students were also presented with awards from the Town Mayor, Vince Hunt to recognise their hard work and their participation in the smooth running of the tournament.

Benji Evans, College Sports Maker at NSC comments, “The event was a resounding success, and it is clear that our students really enjoyed the experience. Our students are currently working towards additional qualifications with Sport Leaders UK, and the competition has enabled our students to gain real and highly valuable experience to prepare them for a career in the Sports and Leisure industry in the future. Benji adds, “I would also like to extend my thanks to Susie Hancock from Shropshire RCC who has done an excellent job for organising the competition.”
