Border Security 2018: a Focus on Smart Borders and Data Management

SMi’s 11th annual Border Security conference will take place on 21-22 February 2018 in Rome, Italy.

London, United Kingdom, October 20, 2017 --(PR.com)-- More and more countries and institutions are increasingly using biometric registration to provide real-time data. Biometrics can help efficient data gathering in a world of free-movement. However, as different agencies use different systems which can cause issues in the registration process, the need for better data governance is a challenge that needs to be addressed.

Thus, one of the focuses for this year's Border Security 2018 conference will look into smart borders and data management. Presentations include:

· Spanish Smarter Borders Project
Dr Enrique Belda, Deputy Director General of Communications and Information Systems for Security, Spanish Ministry of Interior

· Developing and Implementing a Home-Grown PNR System to Support Safe Free Movement
Kristi Paas, Project Manager, Information and Development Center, Estonian Ministry of Internal Affairs

· Mobile Solutions for Borders and Law Enforcement
Frank Smith, Chair ENLETS Mobile, EU Working Group

More information about this can be found on www.bordersec.com/prcom.

Other highlights of the conference will touch on relevant themes such as securing land, air and sea borders, European updates on border control strategies amidst the migration crisis, biometric technology and capabilities, as well as how political implications will affect global border security beyond 2018.

Border Security 2018 will feature a speaker line-up of international senior border security experts who will discuss political and technological solutions being utilised to secure national borders.

Featured speakers also include representatives from Italian Navy, US Department of Homeland Security, Portuguese Maritime Authority and Ministry of Defence, Swedish National Bureau of Investigation, Borders and Immigration UK, Delegation of the European Union to Turkey, Schiphol Airport, Airpol and more.

The full agenda as well as registration information can be found on www.bordersec.com/prcom.

There is currently a £400 Early Bird offer available for bookings done by 31st October.
