Vision Media Television Segment for the National Business Series on Senior Investment Fraud
Boca Raton, FL, March 26, 2008 --(
PR.com)-- Vision Media Television is producing a nation-wide program on “Senior Investment Fraud” for the Public TV documentary - the National Business Series. With the first 'Baby Boomers' turning 60 this year, regulators warn that investment fraud among seniors, which already accounts for nearly half of all investor complaints received, could grow significantly. Scams against seniors abound. “Issues surrounding Senior Investment Fraud are quickly taking the media by storm. In this program we will demonstrate that we will not tolerate the victimization of senior investors by con artists. The most effective weapon against senior investment fraud is a one-two punch of aggressive enforcement efforts combined with financial education to protect investors from unscrupulous individuals,” said Senior Producer Christian Kelch.
A survey by the North American Securities Administrators Association (NASAA) shows senior investment fraud accounts for nearly 50% of all complaints received by state securities regulators. That number has increased from the 2005 survey, when 28% percent of fraud reports involved the elderly. The first step to stopping investment scams or scamming people in general on investment issues, is to increase public awareness on this very important issue for national education.
