Vision Media Television Launches a New Segment on Electric Vehicles for the National Environmental Report Hosted by Mr. Hugh Downs

The National Environmental Report Launches a New Interstitial Segment for Distribution to the Internet and Public Television

Boca Raton, FL, March 27, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Vision Media Television is currently producing a program on “Electric Vehicles” for third quarter nation-wide viewing. Electric cars are “one of the waves” of the future. They produce no local pollution or carbon dioxide. However, even though they have no tailpipe emissions, they are not entirely pollution free, and consumers should be aware of what the changes are in the new use of such cars. This segment will focus on how electric powered cars are helping to build a better tomorrow by using technology responsibly in relation to the environment.

Though certain pollutants are no longer part of moving to an electric power source, there is still education needed in understanding how the batteries work in these new vehicles and the pollution they may cause with battery related issues. Other matters that arise raises questions on how recycling that power source has an impact on the environment. For example, the program will demonstrate how NiMH batteries for these cars can and are being recycled. Even though their battery life in cars may end around 130,000 miles, they are still used in useful roles in businesses and homes by providing them with electric back-up services. Christian Kelch, senior producer for the series said, “Consumers have not been educated enough on the practical use of these types of vehicles and how their power source differs from combustible engines. They do not have the differences down, or the pros and cons, on how NiMH batteries work differently, from the vantage point of recycling, from Lithium ion batteries.” Cathy Proctor, producer for this segment, said, “Lithium batteries do not currently have the same economic value as NiMH batteries, but they too can find useful recyclable uses if consumers are well educated in this area.”

In this segment the National Environmental Report will cover these issues and topics in order to educate the consumer on exciting new and innovative ways of building up our nation’s power sources and looking for responsible alternatives to common fossil fuels.
