Laguna Beach, CA, April 16, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Wendt Gallery is proud to announce that gallery artist Joseph Todorovitch has won first place honors at the 10th Annual Portrait Society of America’s “International Portrait Competition”. Along with winning the 1st Place award, Todorovitch was also awarded the “People's Choice Award for his magnificent painting – “Kristin”.

Over thirteen hundred entries from around the world were juried from which 20 finalists were selected to exhibit their submitted artwork at this prestigious conference. The finalist’s paintings were judged by an elite panel composed of leaders in the field of traditional portrait and figurative Fine Art. More than $35,000 in prizes was distributed to the winners at the Art of the Portrait® conference Gala Banquet, held Saturday, April 12, 2008 in Philadelphia, PA. Winners also received a certificate authenticating their awards, as well as recognition in the Art of the Portrait newsletter and International Artist Magazine.

Joseph Todorovitch won the First Place award and the coveted “People's Choice Award” with his painting titled “Kristin”, a stunning oil on canvas composition measuring 60” X 48”. This was Todorovitch’s first ever entry to the Portrait competition, making his award winning accomplishments that much more significant.

The Portrait Society of America is a not-for-profit organization directed by a governing board of artists dedicated to fostering and enhancing the practice, aesthetics and applications of traditional, fine art portraiture. Membership is open to all individuals with an interest in the art of the portrait.

Joseph Todorovitch’s winning painting will be on exhibit at the Wendt Gallery in Laguna Beach through May, 2008.
