Mooseheart Students to Participate in Gladstone Homes’ Inspire Me Internship Program

North Aurora, IL, June 27, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Two 12th graders and residents of Mooseheart Child City & School, will learn about the homebuilding industry as they plan for their futures outside of Mooseheart, a residential childcare facility located on a thousand-acre campus 38 miles west of Chicago.

Davon Davy, 18, and Randy Martin, 17, are participating in Gladstone Homes’ Inspire Me four-week summer internship program, designed to introduce students to the homebuilding process, inspire their creativity and help them explore possible career paths. The student interns are exploring all aspects of the homebuilding industry, from corporate tasks such as acquisition, marketing and construction management to field roles such as architecture, engineering and homebuilding trades. Each day of the program focuses on one of 16 different aspects of the homebuilding industry, and Davy and Martin are creating their own new-home communities.

The internship began June 16 and will continue through July 11. Students spend the majority of their days in the field learning the homebuilding process from trades people and other industry experts. Already, Davy and Martin have learned about the process of introducing a new home design, including Gladstone’s naming criteria. Names that each have suggested will be used for new floor plans that Gladstone Homes is introducing this summer.

Gladstone Homes launched this program to provide inspiration and opportunity to its neighbors at Mooseheart, spark new ideas and an offer an experience the students never before have had.

Davy and Martin are among a number of Mooseheart student-residents who applied for the internship. They were selected by Mooseheart faculty based on academic achievement, behavior and demonstration of responsibility.
