Radio Industry Veteran's Voice Over Workshop Now Weekly in Rockledge

Rockledge, FL, May 03, 2017 --(PR.com)-- Stefani Sheron's commercial voice over workshop in March at Prodigy Talent Training was so popular that the radio industry veteran is now hosting the workshop once a week.

Sheron will instruct students in an ongoing class from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursdays at Prodigy's office at 634 Barnes Blvd., Suite 202 in Rockledge. Participants will learn to mark and voice a high-energy or straight commercial that sells, learn copywriting basics and write and record their own commercial, Sheron said.

A weekly class format also will enable Sheron to cover the voice over industry in more detail, she said. "There's so much about the voice over industry with commercial, industrial, animation and gaming, there's e-learning stuff, there's audio books," said Sheron, a Cape Canaveral resident who worked in radio for about 15 years at stations in Brevard County and Illinois.

Sheron also will discuss the business side of the industry, including how to land voice over gigs, what a student needs to have in a demo and whether that participant needs a website and an agent.

Participants will lay down vocals on Demo Day, the last Thursday of each month, Sheron said.

"The old Catch-22 is if you don't have a demo you're not getting a job, and if you don't have any jobs, how do you get a demo?" she said. "So Prodigy Talent Training helps with that."

Prospective students don't need a loud, booming voice to find success in the industry, Sheron said. "In voice over, the big announcer voices are done," she said. "They want people who sound like normal people because it helps you connect with the listener when you sound like a friend from next door. Any voice would have a niche in voice over these days."

Prodigy owner Jonathan McFadden said classes are ongoing to allow students to build their voice-over technique and correct bad habits. As the student becomes more advanced, the lessons become more challenging, much like Prodigy's acting classes, he said. "The curriculum grows with the student," McFadden said.

The workshops are open to the public. Cost is $209 a month and participants can pay by going to Paypal.me/ProdigyTT. Class enrollment likely will be capped at 10 students, but Sheron and McFadden said they'll add more classes if more people sign up.
