The Matador Cantina Attracts Hundreds of Job Seekers During Open Call

The Mexican restaurant expects to hire nearly 40 full and part time employees prior to its April 2009 opening.

Fullerton, CA, March 21, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Hundreds of job seekers turned out for the first day of open call interviews yesterday for roughly 35 full and part-time positions offered by new Orange County Mexican restaurant, Matador Cantina. The open call interviews began at the restaurant at 1p.m. and lasted well into the evening. The line of would-be job hopefuls led out the restaurant’s main door, and down the sidewalk around the rear of the building.

The positions range from bartenders, servers, cocktail waitresses, kitchen staff and hostesses. “We were absolutely flooded with so many great and enthusiastic people,” said Matador General Manager Xavier Perez. “We expected a large turn out, but nothing quite like this. Everyone was so good and patient with some hopefuls waiting seven hours before being interviewed.”

The open employment interviews will conclude today at the restaurant beginning at 1pm. Another large crowd is expected. “We are excited about employing a good number of people in this dire economy,” said managing owner Mario Marovic. “It’s great for the community.”

The Matador Cantina will soon open its doors, offering Mexican-inspired cuisine, premium tequilas, Spanish and South American wines; and menu items tailored for express lunch, dinner, Saturday and Sunday Brunch, as well as Take-Out and Catering. Located in historic downtown Fullerton, the restaurant and bar is housed in Fullerton’s oldest building, erected in 1899. The location also serves as one of Fullerton’s oldest dining and drinking establishments, with a license to serve alcoholic beverages dating back to 1959. The Matador Cantina is located at 111 North Harbor Blvd., Fullerton, CA. For more information, visit www.thematador.com
