Detroit Raises Money for the American Cancer Society

Detroit Business Consulting recently participated in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life to fund raise money and support those suffering from cancer, a survivor of cancer or for those who have lost loved ones to this disease.

Troy, MI, May 07, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Detroit Business Consulting got together on Saturday, May 1st to help fight cancer in the Relay for Life for support of the American Cancer Society. This event hit close to home to DBC as one of their team member's brother—a cancer survivor himself, hosted this event and lead the entire program. This is the first student Relay for Life in the nation and was held at DeSales High School. During this relay DBC and the team camped out over night and took turns walking around a track to raise money for the American Cancer Society. The goal was to raise $ 1,000 but the team went above and beyond totaling $4,417.00 and topped the entire relay off at number 1. The American Cancer Society Relay for Life is a life-changing event that gives everyone in communities across the globe a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease. At Relay, teams of people camp out at a local high school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Because cancer never sleeps, Relays are overnight events up to 24 hours in length.
