North East, MD, September 23, 2011 --(PR.com
)-- Ken Lang, a former homicide detective, now author, has turned the literary world upside down and grabbed the attention of some prominent entities, including The Authors Show “50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading.” With his debut release, Walking Among the Dead: True Stories from a Homicide Detective, Ken Lang has been named a finalist in this prestigious contest.
In March of 2011, Lang self-published his debut release in ebook and soft-back formats. The book captures his experiences as a homicide detective in the Maryland where the realities of his fast paced investigations were transcribed, making it a page turner for true crime fans nationwide.
Lang’s writing style and knack for words soon grabbed the attention of Chris O’Byrne, founder of Red Willow Digital Press.
"Finally, some good writing!" says Chris O’Byrne about Lang’s work in Walking Among the Dead. Lang signed on with Red Willow Digital Press on May 18th and has submitted his sequel, Standing In Death’s Shadow: More True Stories from a Homicide Detective which is tentatively scheduled for release later this year.
“I had sought out traditional agents and publishers, but no one would bite,” says Lang about his efforts in seeking traditional publishing means. “But after self-publishing my book, it started to draw a lot of attention and I was soon signed on with Red Willow.”
Lang explains that he intends to continue writing. “I’ve already submitted the manuscript for Standing In Death’s Shadow and am writing the last book of this homicide series, Death Comes Uninvited. While I’ll probably write more true crime, I’d like to make a turn and start working on a crime novel series that I’ve developed.”
Voting in the contest is schedule to begin on October 1st through October 8th and will be open to the public. Fans can find the contest page here: http://www.wnbnetworkwest.com/WnbAuthorsShow50Writers2011.html
