Lone Star College System Leverages Online Document Collection and File Review Services to Enhance Student Service by Partnering with Global Financial Aid Services

Gulfport, MS, October 25, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Global Financial Aid Services is pleased to announce its partnership with the Lone Star College System, one of the best community colleges in the country with nearly 100,000 students in the greater Houston area. In this partnership, Global provides technology and file review services that streamline the federally required financial aid Verification and C-flag resolution process. By leveraging Global’s resources the Lone Star financial aid team is able to to focus on students instead of document collection and file review.

System leadership at Lone Star found that many aspects of the GlobalCORE system aligned with the other technology-driven administrative initiatives at the college. It includes a secure, online portal branded to Lone Star creating a seamless student experience. CORE offers a 100% paperless environment by presenting options to upload scanned, electronic documents or to import documents using a fax barcode system. Status of student records are integrated with Lone Star’s Peoplesoft student information system, and the administrative software used to manage the operation is simple and intuitive.

“Our new electronic document upload and verification process is a huge leap forward,” says Carolyn Wade, Executive System Director of Financial Aid for Lone Star. “In the past manual processing caused backlogs that delayed completion of applications. CORE is more streamlined and efficient.”

In peak times, the old manual process for Verification could double the Lone Star goal of 3- 4 weeks for completion. The new GlobalCORE system uploads federally processed student information records (known as ISIRs) received from Lone Star. Notifications are automatically sent to each student’s Lone Star email address directing them to the browser-based portal where easy to use online forms and the options for document submission are presented. Once file review is complete the status is transferred back to Peoplesoft. The entire system was implemented in less than two months.
