)-- The IWA Wrestling Company, founded in 1975 as the first national wrestling company, has hired veteran play by play announcer Ken Resnick to describe the IWA action on the TVS Sports Network. Both the IWA and TVS are owned by TVS Global Media, which is the fourth oldest commercial TV network in the USA. It was founded in 1961.
Resnick formerly announced wrestling for the AWA Wrestling troupe, and then the WWE. He later announced roller derby fo The Nashville Network before returning to wrestling.
"I am thrilled to be a part of the rebirth of an organization with such a storied tradition as that of the International Wrestling Association," said Resnick. The IWA begins taping in May in Chicago and will present a monthly series on broadcast stations, cable networks, and TVS IPTV 'Micro Channels'.
Initial wrestlers already signed for the new IWA series include Mexican star 'Discovery', 'American Gigolo', and Bryce Benjamin. Wrestlers in the 1975 version of IWA Wrestling included Jack 'Hacksaw' Reynolds, Ernie Ladd, Eric the Red, The Mongols, Ivan Koloff, Ox Baker, Cowboy Bob Ellis, Tex McKenzie, and IWA Heavyweight Champion Mil Mascaras.
"We are honored to have Ken Resnick join the IWA," said IWA Commissioner Rodd Stowell. "Ken is a superstar wrestling announcer who has announced the biggest and the best in his career."
