Los Angeles, CA, March 10, 2016 --(PR.com
)-- Acoustic Labs proudly presents a new album of ambient and cinematic music, the 8th album since the project began in 2009. Ten tracks in all, the collection is titled “DroneCast.”
“DroneCast is the culmination of a lot of lessons I’ve learned this year as a composer,” says GC Johnson, composer and creator of Acoustic Labs. “In June of 2015 I was given 30 days to score a great Netflix documentary called ‘Back in Time,’ so I was eating and breathing music for that month, which forced the discovery of some new sounds and techniques that I was eager to include in a new collection. 9 months later I’m thrilled to present DroneCast to the public.”
Recorded from July 2015 to February 2016, DroneCast features music designed for visual mediums and to reflect moods that range from relaxation and introspection to focus and intensity. Johnson used recognizable instruments like acoustic and electric guitars, but also captures unique sounds with exotic instruments such as the Erhu, Guitarviol, and Ronroco. No MIDI was used in the making of this album.
“That becomes more important to me as I learn new instruments and listen to my favorite film composers,” says GC. “There’s something more genuine about sounds that come direct from the composer. It’s a small degree of difference but I hope the extra effort counts enough to squeeze that much more enjoyment or emotion from the listener experience.”
