)-- GetHealth.io, a New York City based startup has launched GetWRO (http://gethealth.io/wro), a digital health platform for clinical trial sponsors, academic researchers/investigators to integrate Wearables’ Reported Outcomes (WRO) data from dozens of consumer wearables and devices in their research studies. GetWRO supplements clinical trials data collection with a digital health component that facilitates remote monitoring of participants using consumer wearables including Fitbit, Apple Watch, Jawbone UP, Misfit and so on.
The platform enables a clinical trial sponsor, clinical research organization (CRO) or an academic researcher to set up a study, select wearables/devices and start receiving data from study participants. Participants simply have to click on an invite link, sign the consent, and provide authorization for the device data to be accessed by GetWRO. The platform provides study teams the ability to export data to a spreadsheet or directly push data to clinical trial management systems such as the Medidata Rave, Open Clinica and RedCap.

The GetWRO solution builds upon the GetHealth.io API which pulls data from hundreds of wearables, devices and health/fitness apps. Launched earlier this month, the GetHealth.io API provides a freemium model for developers, researchers and trial sponsors who can sign-up and access data within minutes via simple API calls. Clients can also obtain a virtual machine (VM) distribution to host an on-premise solution.
