)-- DISC_ARCHIVE announced today that it is raising funds via a rewards campaign on Indiegogo. The company set out to raise $5,000 on IGG to empower the independent music community by providing a reasonably priced method for artists to put out vinyl records in small quantities. The funds go towards an investment in the start-up equipment they need to begin their vinyl cutting service.
Recent advancements in technology have made producing and recording music accessible to people of all backgrounds. The outpouring of digital music over the last ten years has been a turning point for the music industry. However, the fact that vinyl record sales are at the highest they have been in decades reveals that the digital format lacks the distinct quality of holding an actual record.
Vinyl pressing plants have costly minimum requirements of 500 records and regularly take up to 8 months to complete orders. Often, it doesn't make sense for independent artists to drop thousands of dollars on 500 records. Recording to vinyl has yet to be made easily accessible for independent producers. DISC_ ARCHIVE is helping to change that.
The company produces direct-cut vinyl where records are cut individually, making each piece one-of-a-kind. Direct-cut vinyl opens up new, creative possibilities. Vinyl-only DJ's who are also producers can spin their own tracks or make a one-off record of DJ tools. Musicians can archive their sounds. Small labels can put out limited vinyl series on a regular basis without major expenses.
The company provides a comparable alternative to pressed vinyl, where musicians can order 1- 30 copies of a record with quick turnaround times around 1-3 weeks. On Indiegogo, DISC_ARCHIVE is offering custom rewards for labels and producers, a 12” one-off vinyl EP for $40 and a 10” one-off vinyl for $30.
