Honolulu, HI, September 09, 2018 --(PR.com
)-- Back to the future style levitating hoverboards may not be a reality yet, but the clean electric power revolution is here to stay. Just launched, the local startup company, Hawaii Hoverboarding Tours, is utilizing the next best thing to floating boards for their informative tours of Waikiki. They have the latest 2018 model, advanced all-terrain segway-style electric hoverboards.
The company chose to use the all-terrain style hoverboards because they say the boards are the perfect platform for exploring Waikiki. The large wheels provide a cushioned elevated platform to effortlessly glide over terrain on sidewalks or trails, while taking in many more sights than walking alone. After a brief training, the silent self balancing hoverboards can become an extension of the rider as they seemingly float through their surroundings, maneuvering simply with a slight shift in their weight.
“We wanted to create the quintessential tour of Waikiki. These hoverboards are the best way to allow us to showcase Hawaii’s beauty, history, and unique culture. They’re also a heck of a lot of fun to ride,” says company founder Steve Francis.
A passionate traveler, the owner and tour guide is a 17 year Oahu resident who has backpacked around the world, RV’d around the USA, and visited 39 countries. He says he’s created tours that reflect his love of exploration, discovery and Hawaii.
“I fell in love with Hawaii. When you get to know it, it’s much more than just a beautiful place to lay on the beach. Hawaii has so much depth. From it’s ancient Polynesian heritage of warriors, kings, and kahuna, Asian and Western cultural influences, tropical flora, volcanic landscape, oceanic recreation, and friendly laid back aloha culture, Hawaii awaits discovery. Our tours aim to create an experience that builds a lasting connection to Hawaii by showcasing the many dimensions of these islands,” Francis explains.
Hawaii Hoverboarding Tours are not your typical electric personal transporter tours. Rather than riding to a point of interest and stopping for extended periods of time to learn about the location, a wireless one ear audio system is utilized allowing for narration and music along the entire ride. Participants are immersed in all that is Hawaii along the entire ride, which allows for shorter stops, longer rides, and more sites visited. As riders hover along, the guide points out what they’re seeing and its connection to Hawaii’s exciting Polynesian past and present, all along the tour. When tours stop, guides don’t just point to things. They also show photos to give a close up understanding of the location or topic, such as aquatic animals, historical photos, maps, etc.
“While hoverboarding to all the must see spots and more, we cover Hawaii from so many angles. It’s the perfect intro to Hawaii for new visitors, students, or residents. We explore the plants, animals, ancient and modern history, geology, recreation, architecture, listen to popular Hawaiian songs, Hawaii filmed tv & movie soundtracks, pop culture, listen to ‘native’ instruments, learn some Hawaiian language, Hawaiian mythology legends, and even sample some local food and snacks. We pack in so much on our tours. It’s what makes us stand apart from our competitors.”
Nowadays, every great experience needs an equally epic PPW (Profile Pic Worthy photo) to immortalize it with a social media following. As an avid traveler himself, that fact is not lost on Hawaii Hoverboarding Tours founder, Steve Francis. A tech and photography enthusiast, and private pilot, he quickly embraced the drone craze and received his FAA license to fly drones commercially. When giving tours, he’s able to capture unique aerial photography, video and even 360 degree photography of his riders that are sure to wow their social followings.
Hawaii Hoverboarding Tours currently offers 3 Waikiki tours. A 2 hour and 45 minute “Aloha” tour that explores Kapiolani Park, to Diamond Head lookout, to Ala Wai Canal, and through the Waikiki beach promenade. An abbreviated 2 hour version of the “Aloha” tour called the “Wiki” (Hawaiian for quick) tour, which skips the ride up to Diamond Head lookout, is available for those short on time. And finally a 3 hour “Sunset Glow” tour that takes in Diamond Head, Kapiolani Park, and Waikiki Beach promenade during the most magical time of day. Waikiki’s romantic and wild side shine through on this tour while hovering around tiki torch lit sidewalks, street performers and hula shows on some days, all under the tropical sunset sky glow.
