In the UK, Mitsubishi Motors is represented by the Colt Car Company, a full service distributor for the marque since 1974. Mitsubishi Motors UK headquarters are based in the historic Cotswold market town of Cirencester, 20 minutes drive from Swindon and 30 minutes from Cheltenham.
The company has a rapidly growing network of over 130 franchised Mitsubishi Motors Dealerships throughout the UK and four Dealerships directly owned in Bristol, Cheltenham, Cirencester and Reading with a core of around 350 permanent staff.
The company is a joint venture between Colt Automotive Ltd, with a 51% holding, and Mitsubishi Corporation with 49%. In 2001, Daimler-Chrysler acquired a 27% interest in the Mitsubishi Motor Corporation, putting Mitsubishi Motors amongst the world's top three largest car manufacturers.
