Bill Kirchmier

President

Biography

Bill Kirchmier is the sole proprietor and President of IPPSA. He has more than 40 years’ experience in application and system integration of manufacturing and production improvement technologies. Thirty years of this experience has been in computer related applications.

Bill is an FCS pioneer; he was a partner at Jobtime Systems from 1983 until 1996. During this period, he was on the systems development and implementation team that installed in excess of 200 finite capacity scheduling (FCS) systems in a broad range of manufacturing industries worldwide. The applications implemented varied from the production of nuclear fuel to fiber optics, and from book publishing to offshore oil well drilling rigs and aircraft remanufacturing.

Bill recognized the need for FCS education and developed a training program at Jobtime to educate management and company personnel on the benefits of and requirements for implementing FCS systems. The seminars were so successful that he elected to become an independent consultant in 1996 to continue and expand the seminars. He has introduced thousands of people throughout the world to the principles and practicalities of Finite Capacity Scheduling through his seminars and workshops.

Bill founded the International Production Planning and Scheduling Association (IPPSA) in September 2001 as a means to further expand the knowledge of advanced planning and scheduling technology for manufacturing and service companies.

IPPSA is dedicated to improving manufacturing production performance and profitability through the collection and dissemination of advanced planning and scheduling technology. IPPSA aims to close the gap that exists between scheduling theory and current manufacturing practice.

Bill recently co-authored a book titled “FINITE CAPACITY SCHEDULING” with Gerhard Plenert. A description of the book by John Wiley and Sons is attached to this document.
