Beech Sandal Co., LLC, established in 1999, has developed a multi-tiered market for Yoga Sandals®. Early on, the sandals were marketed as the “Upscale Pedicure Sandal®” receiving editorial coverage in national magazines such as Essence and “O” Magazine. This fueled substantial retail sales, building upon a solid base of over 1500 salon and spa wholesale customers.
As the sandals became more popular, inquiries began coming in from yoga studios and practitioners, podiatrists, chiropractors, doctors of osteopathic medicine and people with various foot issues. The basic practice of spreading one’s toes to create better balance and body alignment combined with the firm support of the slanted sole into the ball of the foot while walking proved to be a higher purpose for the sandals.
By creating proper foot alignment, the rest of the body – the ankles, knees, and hips are able to come into alignment. As a result, the sandals evolved into Yoga Sandals® and sales have since been growing at a very rapid pace.
In July 2007, Yoga Sandals® received editorial coverage in Prevention Magazine which resulted in a major surge in sales. Yoga Magazine followed in November 2007 with an editorial spot that continued to position these sandals as footwear with added health benefits.
