Startup Grant Winners Open Family-Friendly Shop in Clintonville Ohio
Noah and Alissa DeRouchie, winners of the 2008 Just Start competition sponsored by Intuit, announce the grand opening of their Clintonville-based natural family store.
Columbus, OH, October 19, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Columbus residents Noah and Alissa DeRouchie spent January of 2008 soliciting votes from family, friends and acquaintances as they competed in the national Just Start Competition sponsored by Intuit and QuickBooks (jumpup.intuit.com/start/). Their efforts paid off when they were named the official winners of the competition and were given $50k in startup cash and services.
This fall the DeRouchie’s business goes public as they open the doors to “Sprout Soup: a natural family store” at 4310 N High Street, Columbus 43214 (614) 26-SPROUT
“We won the contest based on an idea to open a child-friendly café,” says Mrs. DeRouchie, “We still hold on to that dream, but the entire plan just isn’t feasible at this time.” Sprout Soup combines Mrs. DeRouchie’s online business www.SproutSoup.com with their family-focused ideals. The shop boasts an enticing showroom filled with natural furniture, organic clothing, natural and American-made toys, baby carriers, breastfeeding products and locally made items. A spacious playroom with a veggie-themed wall mural invites children to try out many of the toys available in the store. In this room the DeRouchie’s have reserved space to expand, “In six months we’ll start working on phase two,” comments Mrs. DeRouchie. “A coffee bar where parents can relax and watch their children play.”
The store also has a meeting room that local groups can use. Classes and events for parents and children are in the works.
Sprout Soup will host a Grand Opening Celebration on October 23, 2008 from 4-7pm. Event festivities include giveaways, food and fun for the whole family.
