IPA Supports ACWIS; IPA President Reelected as ACWIS Board Member

Buffalo Grove, IL, June 18, 2009 --(PR.com)-- IPA has recently made a significant contribution to the American Committee for the Weizmann Institute of Science (ACWIS).

In addition, IPA President, Gregg Steinberg, has been reelected to serve a five-year term on the Executive Committee and as an officer of the Board for the ACWIS.

The ACWIS was founded in 1944 to develop philanthropic support for the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel, on of the world’s premier scientific research institutions. For more than 60 years, the Weizmann Institute has been a center of advanced, interdisciplinary, scientific research and graduate study, addressing crucial issues in medicine and health, energy, sustainable agriculture, the environment and technology.

Research projects at the Institute have yielded treatments for cancer, diabetes, multiple sclerosis and AIDS as well as ground-breaking research into global warming, alternative energy and world hunger. The Institute gathers together 2,500 scientists, technicians and research students devoted to adventuring into the unknown and whose vision is to understand nature and our place within it.

Through their generous philanthropy, ACWIS supporters like IPA Charities become partners with Weizmann Institute scientists in the search for answers to the most difficult challenges facing the world today.
