IPA was one of 24 exhibiting businesses that attended the event presented by CareerBuilder. Similar Chicago Tribune Career Fairs held throughout the past three years have, on average, seen approximately 80 exhibitors per fair. Therefore, this year’s exhibitor attendance number is a clear indication that high unemployment continues to impede the rate of the economic recovery.
Moreover, typical applicant attendance at the career fairs in recent years has been between 8,000 and 10,000. However, attendance at Thursday’s fair is expected to be significantly higher due, in part, to the current 9.7 percent unemployment rate.
