Web Courseworks Selected as eLearning Vendor for World Anti-Doping Agency Coach’s Tool Kit

Madison, WI, October 08, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) tasked Web Courseworks (WCW) with creating an interactive, web-based anti-doping education program to educate elite and recreational coaches worldwide through tutorial, scenario and game-based learning. Following an open bid for tenders, WADA awarded WCW the development project and multi-year hosting contract because of the synergy created by WCW’s three business lines: custom eCourse development, games and simulations, and hosted learning management.

The “CoachTrue eLearning Experience” will make WADA’s current classroom-based material available in a high-quality, educational tool kit incorporating interactivity and problem-based learning. The online CoachTrue program will consist of many different components of eLearning and simulation to motivate learners through fun and engaging experiences.

The online CoachTrue will utilize a simulation engine developed by WCW to engage coaches through scenario-based learning. Using first-person branching scenarios, coaches must reflect and decide the best course of action during a virtual conversation with troubled athletes within a realistic context. The program also includes a trivia mini-game in reference to the competitive nature of athletics. The game tests coaches’ knowledge and provides remediation in an entertaining way.

Another key component of the new WADA eLearning will be the interactive process map. This tool is used as a post-tutorial resource to simplify complex procedures or regulations, and it facilitates access to key knowledge outside the formal eCourse. Coaches can identify their situation and needs, and the interactive process map highlights important information as a help resource.

“Web Courseworks is committed to delivering innovative online educational solutions, and the opportunity to combine WADA’s CoachTrue curriculum with our game and simulation software is a great example of collaboration between subject matter experts and technology vendors,” said Jon Aleckson CEO of Web Courseworks. “We are proud to be selected for this very important global educational mission.”

The CoachTrue program will be launched by the end of 2009 and will provide coaches with an online experience using Web Courseworks’ CourseStage Learning Management System platform.

WADA is the international independent organization responsible for promoting, coordinating and monitoring the fight against doping in all its forms. The Agency’s headquarters are based in Montreal, Canada (www.wada-ama.org).
