To-Increase Highlights WMS & RF Data Collection as Key, Independent Components of an Effective Warehouse

Blog post helps companies make a case for leveraging both warehouse management systems and radio frequency data collection, rather than choosing one or the other.

Norwell, MA, July 30, 2011 --(PR.com)-- To-Increase, a provider of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) built on Microsoft Dynamics technology, illustrates the benefit of fully integrating modern warehouse technology solutions in the new blog post, "Making The Choice Between A Warehouse Management System & RF Data Collection."

A question currently being asked by companies and warehouse management professionals is whether RF data collection will provide the same benefits as a high tech WMS. The problem with this question, as noted by Luciano Cunha, Global Industry Director, To-Increase, is that it insists on warehouse management professionals choosing between either WMS or RF (Radio Frequency) data collection, rather than seeing the independent benefits of both.

"RF data collection is simply a tool designed to help ensure picking accuracy," writes Cunha. "But just as our heart needs a wide range of healthy habits integrated into our lifestyle to remain healthy, our warehouse – the true heart of our business - needs a wide range of processes managed effectively - not just picking."

Cunha's post cites a recent post to a LinkedIn discussion started by warehouse management expert Kurt Hatlevik. In this discussion, Hatlevik states:

“A WMS, unlike RF Data Collection, can execute best practices in real time that give you the accuracy, labor, and space optimization you desire. They can also react in real time to unexpected errors, correct them immediately, and put a plan in place to address the error.”

RF data collection is not a substitute for a high tech WMS – simply because RF data collection is not designed to provide the benefits that a fully integrated warehouse management system provides.

"At the end of the day, all of your habits contribute to your well-roundedness as a person," concludes Cunha. "Just as full integration of a high tech WMS – along with modern picking tools – contributes to the most healthy warehouse."
