Avoiding Problems from Cab to Courtroom: Appropriate Pre-Work Screening for Drivers Revealed at NPTC 2012

Grand Haven, MI, April 25, 2012 --(PR.com)-- As the entire transportation industry knows, commercial drivers suffer especially high risks for on-the-job injury. Physical function post-offer pre-employment screens can reduce injury risks dramatically, but can also open the door to legal challenges if not conducted carefully.

Two industry experts will demonstrate an effective, legally defensible way to conduct pre-employment screens at the National Private Truck Council Annual Conference, occurring April 29 through May 1 in Cincinnati.

On Tuesday May 1st from 9:00 to 10:30am, Drew Bossen, founder and Executive Vice President of Atlas Ergonomics, and Mike Walker, Director of Transportation for Metal Sales Manufacturing, will provide a 90-minute "Hands-On" view of an ideal pre-employment screen process. Walker will describe Metal Sales Manufacturing's driver injury concerns and how the company sought out and implemented a pre-employment screen solution.

Bossen will address the legal environment surrounding the process including validation, testing criteria and regulatory requirements. He will also provide the results of Atlas' recent return-on-investment study in the transportation industry. The program will conclude with a hands-on, station-by-station review of a typical transportation pre-employment screen.

The program will provide participants with a working knowledge of the pre-employment screen process and how they might consider the implementation of such programming within their organizations.

Bossen will be available to answer attendees' questions in booth 844.
