EmpowHer Institute Announces Board Appointments

Betty LaMarr, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of EmpowHer Institute announced today the board appointments of Mona Golden-Brown and Darian Hendricks.

Los Angeles, CA, June 27, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Betty LaMarr, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of EmpowHer Institute announced today the appointment of Mona Golden-Brown to the position of Vice President and Darian Hendricks as Director of the EmpowHer Institute Board, effective immediately. The organization is expanding its reach to impact more girls and to increase program offerings, to include science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Both of these directors will bring expertise in the STEM area.

Mona Golden-Brown, Vice President – As the CEO and founder of Carrera Lee Enterprises, Inc., Mona sets and carries out the organization’s strategic vision. Since its 1999 inception, she has managed financial responsibilities, handled resource planning and directed business for specific operations. Having worked in the field of technology for more than 20 years, she mentored, inspired and guided prospective managers within the industry. Mona received a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Cal State Dominguez Hills, a Master of Business Administration degree, and a Master of Science degree in Information Systems from University of Colorado, Denver.

As much as Mona loves building information systems, she has a passion for creating change in the lives of underserved youth by sharing her knowledge and personal encouragement. She has previously served on the boards of National Charity League, Peninsula Chapter and Vistas for Children.

Betty LaMarr, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of EmpowHer Institute also announced today the appointment of Darian Hendricks to the position of Board Director of EmpowHer Institute.

Darian Hendricks, Board Director-- Darian C. Hendricks has over 17 years of experience working in both professional consulting and product companies. He has been a Director and consultant for Sapient Corporation, Cambridge, MA, and a Senior Product Designer at Lotus Development Corporation, Cambridge, MA.

Darian started a business and incubator consultancy in 2003 called Manwarin Scott, Inc. The company is currently developing spin-off companies in areas of architecture and real estate development, design services, financial services, entertainment, transportation, and technology. He currently serves as a President and Executive Director, Robert R. Taylor Network, Inc. (RRTN), Cambridge, MA; Board Member, Black Alumni/ae of MIT, Inc. (BAMIT), Cambridge, MA; Member, Council for the Arts at MIT, Cambridge, MA; and Co-Coordinator, Youth program, Unity Church of God, Somerville, MA.

Darian received a Bachelor of Science with a concentration in visual studies and media sciences from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cambridge, MA in 1989. He received a Benjamin Franklin Programme Diploma from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris (Science-Po), Paris, France, in 1989.
