Additionally, the most recent data available from the Standard & Poor’s/Case-Shiller index—widely regarded as the most reliable gauge of home values—reveal that all 20 tracked cities posted year-over-year gains, including the Chicago market, where home prices rose 7.79 percent in July from a year earlier.
