German CEO Becomes First Non-Chinese Laureate of the "Chinese M&A Advisory Award"

Hong Kong, China, December 06, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Within the 1oth annual conference of the “China Mergers and Acquisitions Association” (CMAA – Chinese M&A association), which took place in Hong Kong for the first time, the laureates of the prestigious “2013 China M&A Award” were solemnly announced on the evening of 28th of November.

The award ceremony was hosted by Mr. Wang Wei, president of the China Mergers and Acquisitions Association, high-ranking government representatives of China and of the Special Administrative Region Hong Kong.

27 laureates were announced in different categories. Aside from 26 Chinese laureates like Mr. Gu Shu, board member of the ICBC (Industrial and Commercial Bank of China), for the first time a non-chinese entrepreneur was awarded: Mr. Patrick Becker, German managing partner of Bexuco Investment Consulting based in Shanghai, was awarded with the “China M&A Advisory Award.”

“The fact I was awarded with this price as first non-chinese M&A representative shows how much Chinese practice needs and uses opinions from international experts,” Mr. Becker states after the ceremony.

Mr. Becker was especially awarded for his consultancy within the capital investment by the listed Sundiro Holding Co. Ltd.’s in the luxury yacht producer San Lorenzo Spa and the foundation of a Joint Venture in China. During the M&A process Bexuco and Sundiro relied on Dr. Ole Brühl from Bird & Bird LLP as legal counsel.

Over the last years the “China Mergers and Acquisitions Association” (CMAA – Chinese M&A association”) based in Beijing has grown strongly also beyond Chinese borders. Foreign Investments of Chinese companies increased significantly. Germany is one of the most popular M&A destinations for Chinese investors within Europe.
