I Am Resolutionary Unveils Campaign for Social Change Through New Year’s Resolutions

London, United Kingdom, January 03, 2014 --(PR.com)-- To mark the New Year, four young social entrepreneurs have launched I Am Resolutionary, an online campaign promoting the fulfillment of New Year’s Resolutions in order to contribute to social, ethical and sustainable change.

Every year, people make egoistic New Year’s resolutions that they often don’t uphold. 25% are broken in the first week alone, with most given up by January 9. Among the most commonly made include giving up smoking, drinking less, exercising more and eating less, all tied to the excesses of the Christmas and New Years period.

One commonly made (and broken) resolution will be tackled each month, with actionable items relating directly to social, ethical and sustainable issues. The year begins with “Exercise More,” encouraging running for a cause or engagement with ventures such as Good Gym, which combines regular exercise with helping local communities. A progress tracker of impact and contributions will keep track throughout the year.

I Am Resolutionary was founded during Ashoka’s ChangemakerXChange conference in Istanbul, Turkey. Will Hines, co-founder, said, “Unlike a typical resolution, ours will only get stronger throughout the year, as we engage our resolutionaries with more and more ways to fulfill both their personal and collective changemaking goals.

“It’s about time we challenge the status quo of New Year’s Resolutions. Don’t just start a diet; help others with their eating disorders. Why just buy a home, when you could also make one for someone else? In 2014, don’t just quit something. Start something.”
