About Jason M. Waite

Jason Waite is a partner in the Washington office of Alston & Bird. He co-leads the firm’s international trade practice team. His practice is heavily concentrated on export controls and economic sanctions matters, with an emphasis on corporate compliance, strategic transactions, and enforcement defense.

Jason conducts internal investigations and compliance assessments, develops internal compliance and training programs, and guides clients through voluntary disclosures of actual and potential export and sanctions violations. Jason has significant experience defending clients that are the subject of government investigations involving alleged violations of the export and economic sanctions regulations, as well as the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. In transactional and strategic planning matters, Jason advocates for favorable commodity jurisdiction and classification determinations, spearheads complex export licensing matters, conducts trade compliance due diligence, and represents companies in foreign direct investment reviews by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States.
